History of Arabian Horses in Oman
Forged in the harsh terrains of the Arabian Peninsula, Arabian horses have long been regarded as one of the most versatile breeds of the equine species, known for exhibiting unparalleled beauty, incredible endurance and exceptional speed.
Oman is a leading country in preserving pure Arabian horses and it is keen to select the best and oldest pedigrees, creating a nexus between the Sultanate and the rest of the world through the precious gifts provided over the years by the Sultans since the 1800s and the gracious support of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq. Arabian horses remain celebrated as the epitome of valor and beauty across the country.
The Meaning Behind the Name
The event is named after the Late Sultan Qaboos bin Said’s favorite horse, Alrubatiya, which is derived from the Arabic language and means ‘to bond or form a nexus’. The name is inspired by the idea that horses connect people from all around the world and create a global community of horse lovers.
